Happy Birthday, Karen! I hope you have an awesome, awesome day.
And hey, pass the cake will ya? It's no-fat, right?

As for love, I pick adore.
And buy the way, I adore you.

Karen from Mentor said...

Hee hee hee Estrella, I did. When I got up and saw that you'd left me birthday greetings on my poem from last week lamenting no new posting for my birthday, I quick as a bunny came up with a post.

I love you and your synonyms.

*HUGE hugszzzzzzz*

Karen from Mentor said...

Yep Cathy,
ALL virtual cake is fat free. So's ice cream [I checked] So you can have TWO pieces, but go easy on the champagne fountain if you'll be cruising the www. Don't want you to get a virtual ticket.

Adore is a GREAT word.
Thanks for stopping in my lovely friend.
*smooch*

Laura Eno said...

Happy, happy birthday! Jezebel sends her own wishes to you as well...oops, she just landed in your champagne fountain. Sorry. ;)

Synonym for love...Karen!

Big smooches to you!

*leaves Jezebel with you for the day as a gift*

Kaye Barley said...

Hey Cutie - Happy Birthday!!!!

My synonym for love is laughter - may your day be filled with lots of both.

Hugs!
Kaye

Karen from Mentor said...

Oh I love that one Kaye! Laughter is a balm to the soul and a conduit to refilling the spirit well.

You're such a sweetie. thank you for popping in.
*hugs you*

Karen from Mentor said...

Oh my Laura, leaving jezebel with me for the day could be dangerous.

*rubs chin thoughtfully*

I can just see us now...we'd be out for a nice birthday stroll....then I'd start to wonder if that corrosive spit she makes would be strong enough to melt the bank vault wall....

Wading in the fountain is optional Laura, but I am enforcing a no shoes rule.

*smooches you*

Happy Birthday to you, happyyyy birthday to yooooou...happppy birthday dear looooveely sweeeet & kiiind earthling...haapppy biiirthday toooo yoooouuu!!!!!

(my dog is cringing in the corner :-)

So, love, huh? Love is attention.

That which we give attention to flourishes. I heard this from a wise person somewhere and it has always stuck with me.

Pass the cake! ****smooch****

Karen from Mentor said...

*laughing* my MOST favorite part of that was the "kind earthling"...oh man you light my life up Shannon.

What you focus on enlarges. I like to focus on joy.

Just had me some joy. Wheeeeeeeeeee!!

*hugs you until you make a distressing squeaking noise*

Laurita said...

Admiration! That's my word. And I do admire you, birthday girl.

Happy cake day! Smooch.

Laura Eno said...

Jezebel is turning purple at the squeaking noises coming from Shannon...better run, she's tanked up on champagne...

Karen from Mentor said...

I thought she was already purple. And it's ok,you don't have to worry. I stocked up on caramels to keep jezebel in line. Unless you were saying that Shannon is all tanked up on champagne.

[That might explain the singing]

Karen from Mentor said...

Thank you Laurita! Cake today and it's gonna be pie tonight. Chocolate cream pie to be exact. yum yum yum. A lovely friend is taking me to dinner right before we go dancing. May have to create a safe zone around me on the dance floor until the combination of coffee and sugar wears off.

[or I could just pass out safety glasses]

*smooches you back*

Karen from Mentor said...

Ah! just got birthday *goosebumps* Johanna.

Room to become ever more yourself.

one of the best kinds of exploration there is.

*happy sigh*

Karen from Mentor said...

So sweet of you to say Linda.

I'm leaving my trademark sparkly trail of joy everywhere I go today and just to make the day extra special I've also switched on my glow in the dark ears.

[they were an aftermarket addition]

*hugs and smooches you, gives you some cake*

Karen from Mentor said...

My pretty j, thank you for taking the time to stop in. Today's been splendiforous. And since it's only lunchtime, and I have dancing to look forward to later [not to mention pie] PLUS I've been promised oodles of hugs this evening .... I'm thinking a birthday nap may be in order. yay for birthday naps.
they're like cat naps, only sparklier.

*Great big smooches to you my sweet friend*

PJ said...

Ah, a birthday nap ... i think i might get in on that action and it's not even my birthday ;-) Enjoy your pie, hugs and naps, sweetie!

Cat Connor said...

your eyes are getting heavy, heavy...heavy....

Karen from Mentor said...

*smooches you*

KjM said...

Oh, let me see what my Thesaurus can come up with for synonyms for Love...

Sparkly! (well, that fits right in , no?)

Love...hmmm...shall I compare thee to a Summer's day?

Or to go all theological..."Love is patient, love is kind...it bears all things, believes in all things, hopes in all things, endures all things. Love never ends". Looks like that Paul guy got one or two things right.

Love is - as the Fab Four Prophets once said - all you need.

Much joy to you today, Karen, and all days - but particularly ones that involve cake, dancing, champagne fountains and pie, party hats and animal balloons.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU...

Sorry, I know my voice sounds strange today, so that is all the further I will go.

I wanted to wish you the most special birthday ever!!!

It looks like you have plenty of sweets, champagne and dancing, but of course, the most special is

LOVE

Here is a song for you to dance to and get warmed up. It was the first one I thought of when you mentioned Love:

Rhythm of Love:

Much love and hugs to you,

love lifts us up where we belong!

but... let's see... metaphors, because that's how I think about everything:
love is
:an outdoor cat sitting snugged close to your knee on a chilly afternoon.
:breaking a doughnut in half to share with a friend.
:a surprise hug when you're tired.
:autumn trees so vibrant their leaves look like hard candy, with the sunlight glowing through them.
:when all the world seems to be coming to meet you, offering you everything beautiful and good... which is what I wish for you, Karen, always!

wuv, wuv, wuv. and don't forget to make a birthday wish of your own! (may I suggest some options: pony, rocket ship, giant panda, barrel of monkeys, etc.)

AstonWest said...

What you focus on enlarges.

*focuses intently*

As for as synonyms for love, I imagine fornicate is too many syllables...so we'll go with adore and enjoy.

Jodi MacArthur said...

Happy Birthday, Karen! So I was looking up words in my thesaurus hoping for something outerspacy or otherwordly and found 'besottedness'. I looked up the word in my dictionary (which is in the same file as my thesaurus) and it says unknown. So then I turned to the internet and had an equally hard time finding the meaning but found this quote.``Besotted devotion.'' --Sir W. Scott. So, I think its safe to say, I have much besotted affection for you, my dear. xo

Karen from Mentor said...

Besotted. Love that word Jodi.

If the word were a dessert it would be a big piece of sponge cake filled to overflowing with love. Dripping even. Nice.

besottedness [from the Karen dictionary] To be filled with Sot

Huge hugs to you my lovely friend.
:0)

Karen from Mentor said...

Aston, I very carefully tiptoed off and got an official definiton of fornicate.

for·ni·cate Verb:(of people not married to each other) Have sexual intercourse

That word probably could be squeezed into the Love definition by some, and may even have been tiptoed all around by a certain political official at one time....but yeah, I like adore and enjoy better.

But now that this word has made an appearance, it'll probably get me some interesting hits.

This morning someone found Miscellaneous Yammering by googling "walrus tickle dance band" that made me laugh and laugh. I just hope I never get one that references walrus and fornicate. Some things are even too much for the writer's imagination to consider.

[plus? I'd feel bad for the walrus's wife]

*gives you a VERY LARGE piece of chocolate cake and seats you near the champagne fountain so jezebel can keep an eye on you....*

Karen from Mentor said...

Oh my sweet Lauren, love your list. The hard candy leaves are a beautiful image.

As far as my wishes go...if you're dispensing, I would like a rocket ship filled with monkeys please. That would be so much fun. We'd probably also need the barrel, or at least some buckets, because I could see that much fun leading to the need for a bucket applied to my head as a sensory deprivation device.

And in my experience, monkeys and toddlers can be the same way. Huh. wonder if that says more about me, monkeys or toddlers?

Thank you eversomuch for stopping in to play with me on my birthday.

I love you THIS MUCH. [you can't see it but I'm wearing my mr. gadget arms and they're spread about 45 feet apart]

*GIANT smooches*

Karen from Mentor said...

Don't know how you could go wrong by quoting the beatles Kevin.

*sings along*

I didn't wear a party hat, but had a wonderful time out showing off my new haircut. I finally found a hairdresser who understands my head. I'm pretty sure that means that she's also an alien, but I'm not gonna squeal on her if she doesn't squeal on me.

*hugs you, gives you some cake and smiles hugely at you*
[which by the way happens whenever I think of you]

smooch!

Karen from Mentor said...

Could you also send me a pony Cathy, or would you need a bigger psychic conduit?

I think psychic powers would be a great band name. I also think that mind to mind connection is going to be the next gen in social networking. But the BIG money will be in the filtering software. Just imagine getting stuck in an elevator with someone like Gilbert Gottfried. If he's that annoying on the outside...just imagine what the inside of his skull is like.

Thanks eversomuch for stopping in to share my birthday with me my lovely friend.
*BIG SMILE*

Karen from Mentor said...

Oh Anne, I loved that song. thank you. I'd never heard of the Plain White T's. They have such an uncluttered sound to them.

*hugs you, goes off to play it again and dance in my living room*

[in my birthday suit of course]

KjM said...

>>[in my birthday suit of course]

*Sigh*...just (with a huge grin)...*sigh*...mmmmmmm :D

Karen from Mentor said...

*laughing*

and the best part is it's wash and wear, and always fits perfectly.

[insert Austin Powers here saying Oh behave]

*laughing more*
