The zombie Sherriff eyed the interloper.
"Sherriff, this town ain't big enough for the two of us…."
The Sheriff shook his head at the stupidity of the gunman. His right ear fell off and rolled away under the horse trough.
"How about now?" he asked as he shot the young punk deader than a doornail.

Good diversionary tactic, Sherriff!
I imagine he goes into saloon later for some hooch and poker. Hey, he'd be awesome at strip poker! Doesn't have to worry about losing the clothes; he's got the other stuff...
What kind of painkillers?
Ha, this is funny! I think I would have folded when his ear fell off!!!
LMAO - damn you!! Coffee - keyboard - I'm obviously a slow learner!
I don't think that I would have gone up against a zombie sherriff in the first stinking place Amy, because even if you shoot him...and I may be wrong...because I haven't read a lot of zombie stories, but wouldn't he just keep coming?
I have a feeling that right before this scene started the young gunslinger said to his friend "here, hold my beer and watch this...."
Cat Cat Cat...If I've told you once.... lol...I LOVE ruining your keyboard....
Ewwwwwwww Marisa,
You KNOW how active my imagination is...now I have a NAKED zombie sherriff in my mind.....OH the horror...the horror....
But wouldn't that be a FUN colorform set?
Do you remember those? Coloforms came in a box with a standard scene with accessories that you could add that would "cling" to the scene...clothes....scenery...but in this case it would be bits.....[not going ANY farther in my description of bits though...I just had lunch]
Ha! Love it~! I'm starting to imagine all kinds of body parts falling off, you know, that part of the story could go a long way in subsequent installments.
I've only read a little bit of zombie stuff too. What about the interloper, does he get to be a zombie now? Then can they have zombie fights until body parts are flying everywhere? Then races to get their own parts back? Get some mixed up? Do zombies ever trade parts?
Just imagining the implications of all this - really fun stuff!
Zombie parts rain, now that's something :P
Great micro Western, never really enjoyed it until now :)
Weird western is one of my favorite genres. And I'm a big fan of zombies. In fact you've inspired me to go back to work on my NaNo novel. So thanks for the good read and the motivation.
Hey Chris,
You're welcome for both. I hadn't thought much about weird westerns before this last week or so. But now I'm picturing a giant parrot with spurs and a gunbelt and of course the hat. GOTTA have the hat....
but....hmmmmm....that may have already been done by warner brothers...
thanks for stopping in!
@ Estrella...ZOMBIE PARTS RAIN....GREAT band name!!
@ AnneTylerLord...we're going to have to ask an expert. I'm pretty sure that the zombie has to bite you...but I don't know...
where's daniel powell [my resident Zombie expert] when you need him?
A show of hands..."who enjoyed the story?"
I'd say the eyes have it...
Hee! Thanks for the chuckle :)
Well according to google translator the above message translates loosely to :
Your blog is great, I look forward to updates.
so thank you 週休二日 I'm glad you enjoy my little flights of fancy.

I have a funny retort right on the tip of my tongue Alan, but I can't quite put my finger on it....maybe if we put our heads together we can hatch a plan to put our best foot forward.....You know, get a body of work going.....
Niiiiice! That's one way to lighten the load.
(Sherriff in his best Kurt Russell Wyatt Earp)
"Tell 'em I'm coming! And I'm bringin' hell with me--literally!"
Hey Daniel!
I LOVE Kurt Russell. [girly sigh]
I like your line for the Sherriff....but I am a teensy weensy bit disappointed that you didn't put on your teacher hat and give us a zombie history lesson.
But wait, I've read some of your more graphic zombie stuff...now that I think about it I probably couldn't stomach a detailed zombie history lesson....
Thanks for stopping in.

(Hmmm, my comment disappeared so I'm trying again ...)
Hi Karen, I don't know how I missed your story when I was reading this recent collection of Fridayflash, but it's a rootin' tootin' hoot! Sick and depraved and funny! I think I'm writing zombie for this week's flash, but I don't know if I'll be able to pull it off. (Unintentional pun)
Hi Olivia,
You didn't miss my #fridayflash, it was A Bat for Mr. Roxby and you commented. This was just a little something that amused me on a Tuesday Morning .
"unintentional pun" yeah...right...hee hee hee
