A dirty little tale from the dark side…..Twitter revisited

Ok, I've been on twitter now for forty six days. I've tweeted Seven hundred plus times. I only typed lol [cringe] twice and I've managed to quell a lot of my bluer knee jerk reactions to other people's tweets.

Well, mostly quell. I've found that the later in the day it is the harder it gets. Being restricted to one hundred and forty characters somehow really makes me want to work blue. I mean it's not like in a blog post where your ideas have the space to swell and you have time to generously oil your ideas so that you can slowly slide your thoughts into their proper spots while taking the time to gently ….. um… as I was saying….

Just admit it...you've been sucked in. Bwahaha!
Actually, twitter has helped me to state things concisely. No room to slide your thoughts and, you must admit, LOL is shorter than laughing. Every character counts, Karen!

Definitely works wonders for the ability to trim down your work...

I agree Aston,
It really focuses the mind and lets you come into your own.....

And yes Laura, I like the deep dark depths of twitter....but I only use it a little bit...and only for good. And I keep one foot on the floor at all times....

[you might have to be or know a practicing Catholic for that one]

So, can we say you tweet like a sailor?

Fun! I've been tweeting for nearly a year and I often have characters left - possibly why my blog comments are usually short LOL hehehe

Hey Michelle,
Did you ever notice that hehehe sounds like G. Bush, but hee hee hee sounds like a maniacal three year old? I never know which way to go..... so I usually err on the side of caution and go for the full on evil doer bwahahahahaha..... just to be on the safe side.....

:0)

AJ you should have seen the unedited version, I made myself laugh and laugh....then I cleaned it up....

[grins at you]

Yes Tim, I tweet just like a sailor, well if a sailor peppers his tweets with salty language like "drat" and "darn" and "rrrrrrrrrrrrr" and "matey"...oh wait that's when I'm tweeting like a pirate....

But just so you know? When I'm impersonating a sailor in real life I often get drunk and recite rude limericks about hedgehogs.....

Rude limericks about hedgehogs? Hmmm... I'm intrigued.

I just participated in an event sponsored by a literary agency in which you could send in your 100 word or less hook for them to evaluate. Wouldn't it be fun to send in a hook for a book of rude limericks about hedgehogs? It would certainly get the agent's attention...

I am off twitter, again. I just can't stick to those characters. And the lack of conversation. It's too limiting for me. But I do love to go on and see what other people are mentioning. Even though I don't get all the shorthand stuff.

I know JD! And the extremely personal conversations that folks have on twitter. It just boggles my mind. I'd much rather use email for "conversations" ...in person is best, followed by the phone. I'm a phone fan.

Although I have found twitter useful for announcing things....last week when I found out that I'm going to be in the upcoming Lame Goat Press anthology I announced it on twitter and a whole bunch of people whooped for me...so in that instance it was nice to have the community thing....

And it would also be useful if you were stuck in a well.....well if you were stuck in a well with your iphone and could get a signal....

Karen from Mentor said...

Yes it would be fun to send an agent a book of rude limericks about hedgehogs Kris....problem is? You'd probably have to find JUST the right agent.... and maybe get them to lick a toad first before they'd sign on the dotted line...

But hey, I'm not saying don't try it.... you go girl....

Hmmm... You've never tweeted blue for me, girlfriend. I feel left out.

Karen from Mentor said...

Yeah, but don't you remember the day that Ian and I made you into a super hero on twitter? That should count for something.

And besides you get the thoughts I keep myself from tweeting via email and you know it..... giggling...
