Hear me, hear me……

As a follow up to Creating a Monster….

The Voices page is up and running at Eclectic Flash. Anybody who wants to hear my sweet little chipmunk voice reading Bowling Night, a micro flash tale I dreamed up about a despicable murder should go Here to check it out.

Shoo the children from the room first though. We don't want a repeat of Cat's daughter being delighted and thinking that I was just telling a sweet little tale about a man cooking dinner for his friend…..

Went right over to listen and was stopped by the bouncer at the door!

Told that it's in a format my computer could not understand. DAMN. It's not as if I bought this Mac in Sumeria, for pharaoh's sake. It acts like hieroglyphics is its language of love.

Anyway, tells me I have to find different thing to install. Somewhere. Though doesn't say what.I'm no IT person (Sumerian remember?) so will have to wait until I am. Or ask the expert.

But don't worry, the rest of you enjoy. *Stands outside with face pressed to the glass as others eat, drink, and make merry. Sob*

Sad sad sad Marisa!!! It opens in media player for me. Can you get media player for a Mac?

Looks at you with big sad eyes....

:0)

Marisa! *sees you with your nose pressed against the glass and waves*
I got in past the bouncer but wandered down corridors for a while trying to find the rabbit hole that Karen's voice went down.
My media player didn't auto open but Mr Fluffy told me where to go find it.
You're so funny! I think you should be reading fairytales - you're too cheery for horror! You sound good though. :)

Okay, all files are now in .mp3 format. I apologize to Mac users everywhere for the .wma files that snuck onto the site. I published some in the wrong format, but everything should be fine now. Let me know if you have any problems.

I have my own copy - and we listen to it often. (Yep me and Breezy.. who delights in Karen's tale of cooking... and has no freaking clue what it's really about, so cute!)

:-)

Love that chipmunk cuteness.

Oh, yay! The bouncer let me in!

You have a lovely voice, and it does not bring chipmunk to mind, nope.

It's just so friendly and upbeat. You need to smoke a lot and to drink lots of whiskey and to... well...try other things to make voice sound rough for horror, eh?

BUT, that said, I think it's a great juxtaposition. Cheery voice. Horror behavior.

Wait. *looks around* I am here alone.

Where IS everybody?

Now I'm locked in here and it's dark and scary.

Wait. I hear a voice. A happy voice.

AAAHHHHHHHH!

What an innocent voice! (Har!)

Loved the story, Karen.

oh thank you - I thought the door kept slamming on me too now I can see a little arrow trying to go...
listening...
Wow fantastic - loved it - thank you :)

Tragically, Marisa found out what that happy voice really means in a dark and vacant room...

Laura Eno said...

Come to think of it, no one's heard from Alan or Michelle after they listened either...

Karen from Mentor said...

It's ok Laura, I took a roll call earlier and everybody made it back out of the traps left at EF.... and I have it on good authority that the tentacles drop off after twelve hours or so if you don't feed them.....

Karen from Mentor said...

@ Alan....loved the "Har!" yes ....an innocent voice can lure...I mean....entice....I mean...bring ...yes bring...people into your orbit so you can tra....I mean...enjoy their company....

Karen from Mentor said...

Thanks for taking the time to go over and have a listen Michelle, Brad's like a kid with a new toy...except for the fact that he wants everybody to play with it...laughing.....

I guess I should have said that the file takes less than a minute to listen to.....hardly any time at all to hear about a gruesome murder...and [see comment above] there is the extra enticement of coming back out of the Eclectic Flash site with those free tentacles....

Karen from Mentor said...

Cat thanks so much for going over even though you've heard it multiple times by now....giggling...I am still truly sorry that breezy loves the recording...[guilt guilt guilt]

hugs!!!

Karen from Mentor said...

Brad, thank you for fixing the files so that Marisa could listen to them!!!!!

It was horrible to see her standing out in the snow like that with her cute little nose pressed up against the glass.

Marisa, RE: whisky voice..... I used to get laryngitis once a year or so at a job where I did a LOT of phone work ...

The funniest thing was all the guys in the field would call in extra times to hear my "sexy purr" .... I would laugh and laugh and tell them...yes....phlegm IS just so very sexy.....

oh man....

It's like the Bermuda triangle round here some days.

You don't sound anything like I imagined. Quite disconcerting to hear such a gruesome tale read in such a sweet voice. :-)

I've had a lot of fun doing recordings. It's a great way to branch out into new media, isn't it?

The voice lures you in. The story won't let you out.

Why thank you Helen, that's a very nice review! I'll have to ask Brad to put that as a tag to my file....gotta go over to your place now and see who won the liar liar pants on fire guessing game...

Thanks for stopping in.

Linda that's exactly what I told Brad. But he said go with it....hope my disconcerting voice doesn't seep into your dreams or anything.... bwahahahahahaha

KM? Yes, it was a lot of fun to stretch the creative horizons a bit.

[But I'm still drawing the line at mud wresting]

Thanks for stopping in guys!
