A joyful noise.....

woke to
cicadas singing

the summer heat
into the day

Short and sweet poetry, Karen.

And as I always say...it's better to be woke by the singing of cicadas than the buzzing of mosquitos (and that's why I don't write poetry!)

*grins at Alan*

It's worse when a mosquito latches onto your eye and tries to pull it out of the socket.
[we have pretty big mosquitos in Ohio]

Beautiful, Karen.

And I miss cicadas ... and fireflies ... and summer thunderstorms.

Thank you Linda. :0)
Last night there were fireflies sparkling everywhere at the park. I got to enjoy watching them while listening to the frogs say goodnight to the day.

Then I woke this morning to cicadas welcoming the sun back.

Pretty good sunset/sunrise. Hey isn't there a song like that?

Short, and oh so sweet. This made me want to stretch, long and lazy, and listen to that noise.

Sweet, beautiful. You have quite the ear for this sort of thing, Karen.

And, clearly, a good way to begin a Monday.

I'm always baffled at how much you can share in so few words, Karen! I want to be like you when I grow up ;)
Love this poem!

Stretching long and lazy is a great way to start the morning Laurita. I like to add in smiling at the day too. And then laughing when I see my hair in the mirror.
[but that may just be me]

I love hearing peepers in the spring and the cicadas in the summer.

*happy sigh*

Kevin it was a GREAT way to wake up on a Monday. Today? I woke up to a garbage truck.

Wasn't quite as poetic.

I like that idea Laura. Sort of like turning food into fuel.

To celibrate I'll have an extra cookie with my lunch.

*don't mind if I do*

Don't mention cicadas with turning food into fuel...

*thinking of Indiana Jones and picking at monkey brains now*

I need a cookie to clear my palate...
