Public Service Announcement…

Fear or love
Life basically boils down to one or the other state. When you have fear of love? You're screwed.

Yesterday is gone. Make experiences that are joyful now, today, this minute. Love yourself and the people around you. Love nature, love experiencing the smallest thing. Be happy. Life is too short to be miserable. Misery loves company yes, but the company you attract by being miserable is well….miserable company.

No matter how brief...
The pain of a heart broken

is worth the experience
of a heart filled to bursting

The company you attract by being joyful is the best company you can imagine. It's company that is light and lighted and sometimes so bright you just gotta wear shades.

This has been a public service announcement.

*steps off soapbox*

Now I'm gonna go hug some trees. You're all welcome to join me.

*skips happily off*

I came over here to get my cup full of nectar...thanks!

Uh, Karen...don't hug that tree. It's full of poison ivy...

to fear love is to fear life - those that do need to get over it!

Marisa Birns said...

What a bereft life it would be, if one did not experience love and all that it brings.

Oh, Laura is right. I have some calamine lotion here for us.

Love is worth experiencing with the good and bad things altogether, it is worth it... we shouldn't lose hope and we should all have the courage to pursue love and happiness!

You're right!
You're absolutely right!

"Be happy. Life is too short to be miserable."

Sometimes we have to be reminded, but this is the absolute truth.

I hugged a tree too. Anyone know how to get sap out of hair?

I'd rather hug you. But since you are (way too) far away, I'll hug this tree here.

Good for you - I agree - go for the light and the shiny things - remember... Oh, shiny...

I will hug a few trees with you & hope they don't complain too much for being in their personal space.

Now that's the best advise I've heard in a very long time. Nice PSA, Karen!

It's great to spend time/share time with someone who is happy to be with you Alan.
Nothing beats that in my book.

And as you know, I like to go through life spreading a little sparkly trail of joy.

Trees like it when you hug them Anne.

[they told me so]

It just when people pick at their bark that they complain.

Karen from Mentor said...

*sigh*

I wish I was a tree right this minute j.

lucky tree.

[sometimes a girl just needs a hug]

@ Laurita
Re: tree sap out of your hair

peanut butter followed by palmolive dish washing soap.

Strange, but true.

And if you've been out dancing in the woods in the altogether....it works for skin too.

[not that I'd know anything about that...but you hear things...]

Karen from Mentor said...

@ Michael...I couldn't agree more.

@ Cathy I am? *marks calendar* ... *looks pleased*

@ Estrella..so young, but so wise....

@Laura and Marisa...you know what? I've never had poison ivy....weird, but true. Especially with as much time as I spend in the woods frolicking in the altogether. [allegedly]

You guys rock.

Such an awesome post.

Fear or Love. This is my philosophy. Whenever I'm confronted with a dilemma, I try to figure out -- am I reacting in fear or with love? I have a choice.

Of course, I also am human and often screw up. Your PSA is a beautiful reminder. Thanks, and peace..

Karen from Mentor said...

It's such a simple adjustment to make isn't it Linda? Makes life a whole lot easier in the long run.

You're welcome and namaste.

I know how this was awesome and the poetic feel is tremendous and everything ... but I don't know if the broken heart thing is true.

Thank HEAVEN I met my wife at last. No more heartbreak. :)

(I really liked this piece. Did I mention that? I really did. :) )

Karen from Mentor said...

*puts fingers in her ears and holds tightly to the broken heart thing being true*

...laughs...

jdane, I hope to join you one day soon in finding a love that is life giving and lasting.
I'm so glad you found yours.

hugs!

of course I meant romantic love. I've got the other kind 24/7.

*lucky me*

I refuse to hug trees on the basis that they might object to such unasked for familiarity on my part, but I'll hug you instead. :)

Lovely sentiment and lovely poem.

So true that we attract what we reflect. I think even more important is being real with how we feel whether its fear or love, otherwise we are ignorant. And that' what I like about you Karen, how real you are, whether its those tentacles acting up or that great *ting* smile.

Beautiful poem. Hey, I see you swingin' from tree to tree on those vines. Wish I looked that good in a leopard skin bikini.

Karen from Mentor said...

Thanks Jodi...giggling....

You make a great point. Recognizing and embracing how you're feeling is so essential to the human condition. So many people look outward instead of inward for what they need.

Everything we need is available to us; we just have to accept that we're worthy of having it, then take it gracefully and with gratitude. Especially love.

*smooches Jodi*

The pain..."

I could not say it better myself. In fact, I couldn't say it as well. To be truthful, I don't think I could come within an ass' roar of saying it as well as this. (That's how we measure distance in some places in Ireland.:)

This was just gorgeous, Karen. And such depth in such brevity. Again, I stand/sit amazed at how well you do this.

*Now goes away concentrating mightily on not imagining Karen frolicking in the altogether or leopard skin anythings...*

David G Shrock said...

I stay clear of misery. I only hug trees when I crash into them on my mountain bike. Bark hurts.

-sent from my iPad ;)

Karen from Mentor said...

I've never crashed into a tree with a bike David, I'm more of the ride slowly while gaping at everything and parade waving kind of biker.

May I suggest "1-800-ChainMailRus"? They have a lovely selection of light armour to protect your skin from future tree bark encounters.

*winks back*

Karen from Mentor said...

Thank you Kevin for what you said about the poem.

There are several other things I could say about your comment...but I'm wearing my halo at the moment.

*grins at Kevin*

Well done! Sheesh, I need to put more of this in practice in my life...

Excellent job, Karen!
