A lesson relearned at the Cleveland Museum of Art.....

Remember back in ‘09 when I had a random Batman riding a motorcycle sighting and I said it taught me to take a camera with me wherever I went? Well, I relearned that lesson yesterday. I went  with a friend to the 2011 Chalk Festival at the Cleveland Museum of Art and we had a wonderful time; but I wish I’d lugged a real camera with me.
[I only had the camera on my phone]

Highlights of the day…. (1)Swing dancing in the grass with a college kid named Gerry to Cats on Holiday [great local band I love] (2) Even though there were HUNDREDS of people there, we randomly ran in to one of my best friends and his girlfriend (3) Talking a policeman into posing for me in a really funny way [not publishing that one] and (4) Standing around speculating whether or not we were [as innocent gawking bystanders] adding power to the demon summoning circle that was obviously going to call up something nasty from the underworld as soon as the moon came up …. [see the second photo]

...woke up to rain today and was sad that all that beauty was so fleeting....but kinda glad about the demons........

Gorgeous! I'm a fool for chalk art and sand sculptures. Art thumbing its nose at permanence: what could be better?

I know Johanna. Really enjoyed all the people -artists and amateurs - taking time to pour out a little piece of their soul onto the ground for people to enjoy ....knowing all the while that it was going to be washed away. love the idea, loved the event.

I saw the title to this in my blogroll, and thought for sure you'd done something to the David statue you weren't supposed to...

Glad it was tamer...though try to keep the demons away a little more.

I have been to the CMA with people who have leaned in too far and set off an alarm. But personally I've never been kicked out.

[but they didn't see a group of us sliding down the banisters that led to the bathroom yesterday....]

shhhhhhhhhhh

I'm with Johanna...well not really "with" as such...you know what I mean...with the whole "impermanence" thing.

And the demons.

It all looks like you had fun. Never a bad thing.

Well, an outfit is important in that line of work...showmanship and all that.

true, true.... and you can write a pair of kick ass boots a month off on your taxes.
Pretty sure wear and tear on leather is filed under Demons:Banishing of [section 2] on the IRS long form

We had a blast kevin. I even behaved myself for the most part. My friend didn't have to tell me even once to climb down off of any of the outdoor statues. Although I did hug a really big willow tree over by the pond and she had to pretend she didn't know me for a little while....

Those are so pretty, glad you had such a great time, honey! *wishes for chalk festivals held here as well*

You could start a trend Estrella!

I've sat down outside and started drawing with sidewalk chalk and never had any trouble coaxing people to join me. Kids and adults. Always had fun. And some great conversations can take place around the subject of "do I want my unicorn to be pink or purple..."

Sidewalk chalk in the summer is the equivalent to building a snowman in the winter for me. Usually draws an audience, and sometimes they play too.

win/win

*hugs you*

The bearded dragon stopped me in my tracks. He looks just like the one my daughter had until just recently. AND ohmygosh who doesn't love a walrus in a hat?

Thanks for stopping in Brian.

Gorgeous pictures! Too bad the rain took them out. All that work, washed down the drains to the Underworld for THEM to enjoy...

THEM.... yes.

Fun thing about the demon summoning photo, I'm doing a guest spot for #amwriting in October and Johanna requires art for the story. Gonna use the second one.... my story is tentatively titled "I double demon dare you...."

hee hee hee
