Greenpeace

Elizabeth Edwards put a collection of poems by international poets together into a book to raise money for Greenpeace. I'm pleased to announce that one of my poems is included in the collection.

Click here to preview the book.

Art Around the World Poetry is a limited printing of 250 books and all of the proceeds go to Greenpeace. If you purchase the book and would like a personal thank you from me, send your address to karens8465 [at] yahoo [dot]com, and I will send you a thank you card that you can snuggle down into the book on page thirty with my poem.

I always wanted to do something personal to help Greenpeace and writing a poem was a lot easier than traveling somewhere and giving penguins a bath after an oil spill. Not that I would have any trouble rolling up my sleeves and bathing cute little tuxedo clad birds, it's just that I don't like to fly, and we almost never have oil spills here in Ohio.

There's also an online auction of a hard cover printing of the book. At 11:00 am this morning the bidding was at $99.
If you're interested in the online auction go to @140hours on twitter to check it out, or follow the link on the book preview page.

Thanks to Elizabeth Edwards for starting this whole project.

Congrats again :)
This is amazing honey, I'm so glad the book is out now!
Great way for helping Greenpeace.

Oh, and in case you will ever need to bathe a few penguins please please: make a video! ;)

I would love to bathe penguins Estrella. But the only oil I'd find around here would be salad oil and that just seems kinda creepy.
lol
Poor things. Making them smell all garlicky just so I could have a greenpeace-ish adventure. It just wouldn't be right.
[grins at you]

Thank you for retweeting the link. I hope Elizabeth sells all of the books so she can get even more support for the books she'll be putting together to raise money in 2011.
hugs!!

Wow! Great and awesome news! That is just the best. You should be very, very proud.

Karen from Mentor said...

Aww, thanks Cathy. I am proud...and pssst...can you keep a secret?
I'm actually going to call myself a poet now.

*wonders how to measure head for a fetching beret*

Congrats to you! That's terriffic news. I hope you are sufficiently proud of yourself.

Penguins don't like to fly either, so you have that in common.

*checks proud gauge*

[looks astonished]

Why yes Laurita, the little red line is EXACTLY on the "sufficient" mark. So nice of you to notice.

As far as things I have in common with penguins, I look divine in a tuxedo tee shirt, but I haven't had one of those since high school.
[really I have a polaroid...don't ask to see it though I might actually show it to you]

Thanks so much for stopping in to share my glee.

*gives Laurita a HUGE hug*

Too cool! A great cause and some great exposure for you! Keep it up, girlfriend!

Karen from Mentor said...

Thanks Kris, you're such a sweetie. And may I say you look really adorable when you jump around with your pom poms like that.

Use of pom poms as an adult almost makes up for the band uniforms in high school.

Hugs!!!!!

[but the plume on the hat was cute...so there was that]

That's amazing! Congrats! I give you a bag of admiration and a dash of "golly gee" =D

It's so awesome to write and have it truly mean something, I hope to do something like this one day!

Congratulations. This is [you are] awesome.

"Fetching beret" made me imagine you taking it off your head and flinging it away with the command to fetch! Which, of course, I would. For a cookie. Or kibble.

Karen from Mentor said...

Aren't you sweet Tony? [answer--> yes he is]

LOVE the dash of "golly gee" that made me giggle.

Thanks so much!

"Poetry for the planet" has such a great ring to it Judy. Maybe that's what the book for 2011 should be called.
[You'd of course get a writing credit]
Thanks for stopping in and thanks for tweeting the link to the book to your minions!
So sweet of you.
hugs!!!

Aw thanks Tim.

I don't have any kibble, but I have cookies. But they're regular human cookies....so don't know if that would work. You'll have to let me know.
[they're pretty good]
