WHO has some holiday spirit ...... ?

Gotta say this holiday season has been a rough one for me.  It takes a lot to put a damper on my joy but the last couple of months have been filled with too much death, near death and just basic not enoughness. So this morning I got up with a headache and decided that I’d have a wallow in my misery day. *laughing* It wasn’t going so hot, what with me being inexperienced in the milieu, but I was giving it the old college try. Then I got my mail.
Oh.  My.  Gosh.
I got the sweetest card from my friend Jerry wishing me a lovely holiday and hoping that Santa brought me everything that my heart could desire.  I smiled and thought to myself that Santa might have his work cut out for him this year. Next I opened a card from Lauren.  She had prepared me for it by calling and saying that she had made me something that made her giggle with delight and she couldn’t wait for me to get it. So, I should have been ready….but I wasn’t. I actually hopped up and down with glee when I saw the front of the card.
This little owl is so adorable that I can’t decide what part of him I love the best. If it comes right down to it I’d probably go with the boots, but the tail, the hat, his FINGERS and his smile are all up there in the top ten.
After I laughed and laughed, I called her and left her a voicemail telling her how much I loved her little wintery gift of owlish love.
I hung up the phone and reread Jerry’s card. I’ll have to ask him if he put in an express order or something cuz it seems like Santa might have come a couple of days early for me this year.

Big hugs and holiday cheer back to you my sweet Cat.

I hope you can get your holiday cookies done without any more of them melting. Christmas in sweltering heat would take some getting used to for me, but you guys down there on the bottom side of the world figure all that stuff out early on, I'm sure.
I like a dusting of the white stuff for my holiday. We had SNOW worthy of the capital letters last weekend, I'm hoping for at least a dusting this weekend to make christmas feel eversoslightly magical.
[I like it when the lights have EXTRA sparkle]

Merry Christmas, Karen! Your owl is terrific - so happy and friendly, just like you! Have a fabulous holiday and whether you're giving your old college try at misery or magnificence, I do hope it's all magic!

Thank you Cathy! Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.

Lauren is an amazing artist. I love her artful whimsy. After she commented in her Ten Questions Tuesday interview that Tony the Tiger had a mexican counterpart I just had to see what he would look like. Soooooo.....she drew him for me and he lives proudly on my fridge. This little owl will be joining him there after the holiday.

Thank you for stopping in to see me.
*hugs you and gives you a cookie*

Too adorable!

Maybe when Santa comes to your house he'll be the (single) hunky one-- we know he's employed, so that's covered.

I hope your holiday is the very best one EVER.

((((hugs))))

What a fun owl - and who knew owls could be such fun?

"...be such fun..." causes my mind to conjure up "...and the dish ran away with the spoon".

Clearly a case of too much, or not enough, eggnog.

Wishing you all joy, Karen. Merry Christmas.

Such a stylish owl with its little blue boots.

Merry Christmas, dear Karen, and my gift to you is a fervent wish that the next year brings you health, joy, and a whole lot of enoughness!

*psst* Think you should take away the eggnog from KjM. Seriously.

Hugs.

It is an adorable owl. (Are men allowed to say adorable? Oh well, I eat quiche too.) I hope The damper's been opened and that you have a wonderful Christmas, Karen, and a terrific New Year as well.

Yay, Sweets. I'm glad that your Joy is too big and to bright to be contained even with a self proclaimed 'wallow-in-misery-day"!

I am glad that you have people who love you and send you cards. I rush to the mailbox everyday in December. I love Christmas cards.

Great little Holiday post!

A perfect little way to pass on the holiday spirit. You've got good friends, Karen.

I hope you have the very happiest of Holidays. This post certainly added to mine. Muah!

I know I'm in the minority, but I am so not a fan of this month, and I can relate to that part and I've made my peace with it. Be that as it may, I sure hope you have a wonderful holiday season, because you deserve it.

Oh, I'm so glad your heart was lightened by this card! I've had an up-&-down holiday season myself--being on my own etc., all the changes. Thanks for sharing!

An owl carrying a pressie, how Potteresque. (There's a new word. Merry Christmas!) I love the implication the owl would be smiling if indeed owls could smile. Of course, this one has little boots and fingers, so perhaps it is smiling and we're at the wrong angle to see it. Oh, man... reading way too much into it.

Happy Holiday cheer to you and yours. Thank you for sharing your cheer with me.

Take care,
JC

He/she reminds me of a little owl I once picked up back in my 'dog catching days'....long story. Wait, that didn't sound right, did it?

I love your little owl. I think the tail sticking out is really a sheet of armour protecting her for the year to come. And that purple tuque (with pom pom) is amazing.

I get the feeling that misery day has passed. Best wishes to you for the holidays! (and greetings to Jerry and Lauren, creator of special holiday owls as well).

Hugs, A

I just love owls! They just seem stuffed with otherworldly wisdom, fluffy-nuttiness and good humor. Lauren is a very talented gal and seems to have been infused with your light :-) Merriest of Christmases to you, Karen, and may 2012 be your year of plenty! Hugs, kisses & sprinkly cookies!!!

Owls are jolly strange creatures: heads that go all the way round & don't fall off, ears that aren't really ears, and a weird post-digestion food packaging trick that most of us secretly covet. Imagine if you could just deposit your auntie's traditional rubber flan straight back on the plate, all neatly wrapped. I bet that orange owl would have it done up with ribbons!

Merry Christmas to you too, Karen!

That is such a cute owl, Lauren is very talented :)
I think Santa always has tricks up his sleeve to make our Christmas unforgettable in some way, and I see that bringing holiday joy early is one of them
Many *hugs* and a wonderful holiday season to you my dear friend *kisses*
