unhooked.....

a flame burned
out, not through

grooves of entrenchment
dug, then left behind

like lines
etched onto glass

cool to the touch
but still rough

Such deft strokes detailing pain, regret.

Of particular fondness -

"a flame burned
out, not through

"cool...
but still rough..."

My Monday's started very well, Karen, because I encountered this artistry.

ah....kevin, there's nothing like the words of an irishman to salve poetic wounds.

nice...i like how you go from the heat of the flame to the cool touch of glass...and the leaving of the etchings, and how that pairs with entrenchment....and that it is still a bit rough...some really cool contracts...interesting title as well...cool piece...smiles.

Your word choices, the rhythm, and the imagery it evokes = wonderful, just wonderful.

i like that you embed touch here...it's not necessarily seen but when you run your fingers over the glass, it's felt..like so many things in life..

Thanks eversomuch Marisa.

Sometimes a square peg just doesn't fit a round hole. Doesn't mean it wasn't worth doing.

love to you!!

hey claudia,

smell and touch are the biggest parts of life for me. If I paint my fingernails I feel blind.

appreciate you taking time to stop in!

love it when a word has flavor grace. trying to tie a bunch of them into an edible soup is the fun part.
nice job wrangling the poets today!

An incredible sense of touch and texture in your words. I can feel the rough cool edges. Very nicely done.

I love the contrasts between the flame and the cool glass, and the roughness where smoothness is anticipated. These are wonderfully tactile images.

ah...vulnerability comes to my mind here..yet a willingness to risk feeling again...am I way off? Nice.

Karen from Mentor said...

*smiling*
you're dead on kkkaty. what is love without vulnerability? being open... loving with all your heart ... that's all that can be done. when it works it works like crazy, when it doesn't ... well ... sometimes you're only left with crazy. :0)

thanks for stopping in.

" well ... sometimes you're only left with crazy. :0) "

Ain't that the truth. But, without the risk you'll never know. And not knowing...ah, that's not living (to my somewhat-harshly-tutored-by-experience eye.)

Annnd...who's to say "crazy" can't be fun, sometimes!

I really like the images here how they flow and still at times contradict each other. You say a lot with a little: 'tis artistry!

I especially love the comparison to lines etched into glass. The imagery couldn't be more perfect, Karen.
